Hello,
Anyone know of any companies that contract with film studios and film production companies? Or else how to work for the studios or production companies themselves? I used to want to work in the film industry when I was younger, and may want to return there at some point, but since I recently got my Class A CDL from a local tech college, I figure I can maybe start crawling my way there with a CDL job in the industry. (btw this site has been very helpful in learning a lot about trucking in general for me, thank you!)
On direct websites for film studios (Paramount, Universal, Warner Bros, Disney, Sony) I could only find "driver" or "CDL" jobs for Disney's theme parks in Orlando (doesn't really interest me).
I am based in E Wisconsin, but would be willing to look at relocating or else driving/being flown out for long assignments elsewhere.
AND I saw a behind the scenes picture on a film set from last year ("Oppenheimer" movie) with a large truck (can't remember if it was straight truck or tractor-trailer, but def big enough to require a CDL) that said "Universal Pictures" on it. I'm guessing they were transporting technical equipment, props, costumes, parts of sets, etc. So there must be jobs out there SOMEWHERE

I have a friend that he and I went to school together. I know he worked on the set of that Fear the walking dead or some kind of zombie type movies. He’s been in it a number of years. I’ll reach out to him and ask how they go about moving their equipment….

Of course Landstar does do some too, but you’ll get to sit there until show is done and move to next show and so on, pays good, but you won’t see much hometime.
Good Luck.RubyEagle Thanks this. -
I know a couple of drivers that drove for Lee Greenwood and Conway Twitty. One of them wrecked Lee Greenwoods bus with him in it. Was fired and started driving trucks.

When I drove for First Fleet, pulled a few entertainment loads. It was stuff the entertainment trucks just didn't have capacity for during a really busy season. I picked the loads up in Knoxville. Women were all over the place trying to get a look at the stars, who weren't there. The two drivers I posted about, would tell them, yeah he's here, but you have to go through me to meet them. They'd take them inside the bus or truck for awhile and you can read between the lines on that one. Anyway, the groupies would end up standing in the parking lot watching the buses & trucks leave and still hadn't met the stars.
No, I didn't get involved in that kind of stuff; not my cup of tea.Speed_Drums Thanks this. -

Definitely Teamster gig. I had friend that did it. He occasionally did some stand in, and had role as drunk sheriff in Young Guns 2
RockinChair, HiramKingWilliams and OLDSKOOLERnWV Thank this. -
Yep. Teamsters. I have a friend who just retired from doing it. He said the job and pay were awesome. But, living in LA royally sucked. He sold his place and escaped to Colorado.
