Throw it in the scrap bin and buy a Jost top plate.

Every rebuild of every other plate will never last as long as the original due to wear of the plate itself. Some that are badly worn can be close to max adjust right after rebuild depending on the model and how hard it it used.

I inspect the plate for shrooming and excess wear before building. If it's badly worn with sharp edges , just replace it.

Thanks. Never did that model of 5th wheel and did not know a Jost would go on it.
Also consider the liability of rebuilding them.

If the top plate is in good condition there’s nothing wrong with using a rebuild kit.

    "If".

9 out of 10 I see are dropped and hooked so often and slammed so hard the plates are garbage. That's the nice thing about a Jost. Replaceable throat.

bought a jost fifth wheel two years ago. after putting it on the handle would come back out when pulled test after hooking up to trailer. told the dealer about it he sent a mechanic out to look at it. they called jost they didn't know why it would do it. so we pulled it an put another one on an it did the same thing . I made them take it off an put on a fontain fifth wheel on . I did not want to risk dropping a trailer going down the road an killing someone. the dealer told me that jost sent them rebuild kits for them an they still did it. they sent them back to jost they never heard what they found out.

My Holland is out of adjustment. It has the bolt in front.backed off all the way, still sloppy.Rebuild kits around $500 looks like a simple job.It seems like a very simple design, compared to others.Anything I need to know, before tearing into it?
