I (female) am starting truck school next month, and am looking into a team gig with my partner (male). He already has his CDL and has started talking with a few different companies. Most of them say they don't have women available for training. I've read some really awful things about women training with men, and am wondering if any of you ladies have any positive experiences training with a man? Thanks very much

Raped by her trucking instructor, this Utah woman is suing the company saying it should have known about past complaints.
Can your partner train you after he gets out on his own? Some of these companies allow drivers to train people after 3 months.Last edited: Mar 27, 2022

I believe that this type of training is "history". The government has put into place that for a new CDL driver, they have to be certified by some type of driving school.Another Canadian driver, GypsyGirl, TurkeyLurkey and 1 other person Thank this. -
How much experience does your boyfriend have?
Which state is your domicile?
Yeah, he can probably be your trainer.Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -
It’s all luck of the draw. Chance you’ll be paired with mr.touchy feely. Chance you’ll be paired with a respectable man. Chance you’ll be paired with someone that will attempt to try to get with you but accepts that no means no. No telling. A lot of factors and some people do things just out of loneliness they don’t mean any harm by it. My opinion I think you should go for it regardless but when you get your trainer communicate with him in a respectable manner letting him know you have a partner and aren’t looking for anything except training. Be respectable but firm don’t show any weakness. If he’s a good man he will understand and won’t get offended by it.

And as others have mentioned, you may be able to train with your partner once he is established in a job.Another Canadian driver and tscottme Thank this. -
In fact I’d recommend a community college instead of becoming a indentured servant to a mega company anyway
the community college CDL class in my state is less than $2,000
maybe other states are a lot higher . I dunno .Another Canadian driver, AsphaltFarmer and silverspur Thank this. -
This appears quite often, and as more women enter the trucking world ( just as many quit, btw) it's a real concern. Like anything on this crappy machine,, you only hear of the bad, but plenty of success stories. Being a woman, I'd have to think in 5 minutes, you'll be able to tell if he is a scumbag or not. Bad trainers, I hope, don't last long, and I think you'll be okay. Good luck.

I think Covenant Transport has what you want. You can train in the same truck as your partner. Covenant trucks are set up for 3 people. The trainer stays in a motel during sleep periods. Pay is highest if you and your partner have hazmat endorsement.
Home - Covenant Transport
Starting team pay now up to 80-86CPM based on endorsements.
