I am starting to learn its all a rip off. From the home delivery guys/gals to the otr drivers. Im running into different people in fed ex who have to work for contractors. I ran into a guy who works for a contractor driving a class c van. He had to buy his own van, take care of all expenses yet still has to be under a contractor.
Thank you for this as i am really trying to get away from trucking again realizing its hard to make good money without working yourself into the ground or into a huge ticket.

So to be solo instead of teams, do you get hired directly by fed ex to run solo or how does it work?

I ran team for 2 years for Ground got hired on solo. The terminal I was at was hard to make money solo. So my boss tried out one of his local guys that wanted to do OTR to see if we got along. We did and are actually still friends. We left did Gov loads for another 3 years. Even though he was a friend I got tired of teaming. So I jumped local and now I'm LTL linehaul. Been off the OTR for 5 years now and make way more money then all that OTR and teaming.

Ok im on fed ex ground in linehaul. I guess i dont know how its broken down yet so maybe im confusing you by not knowing.
I know theres fed ex ground through linehaul and you do teams but i also know there are solo runs out of linehaul. Not sure if that is with a contractor or only through fed ex. It sounds like i gotta put my time in at one place for at least a year before i get a better trucking job.
I looked into SLT that hauls for the federal government and i saw you need 1 yr in a very recent time period or have to get that year in most recent time and if you run teams they say you can make 300 per day, not paid by miles but daily.Radman Thanks this. -

If you live in SD like your name says my company hires less then year drivers. Actually out of school. We have a terminal there. Don't know much about it though and if their hiring. Probably pays a lil more. I work for Reddaway. You can apply online.
