I’ve been thinking about becoming a line haul contractor with Fedex. Any general advise out there from contract owners?
I’ve been seeing online line haul can be operated absentee...how much truth is there to this? Thanks!

Give this a read, I'm not advocating buying his service but it seemed like a decent write up on the subject
Here's a reason why are people selling their FedEx routes. -
Yes you can hire a driver and he run the truck and you not be around. I worked for them along time ago my contractor wasn’t around unless needed be. He would get the call from dispatch. I would call in or dispatch would call me directly.

Owning a truck is NOT a passive investment. I wouldn’t do this unless you’ve been around trucking for a while, and are comfortable with all the things that can make you or break you.
Remember you’re buying the back end of a horse, you’ll still have to feed the front end, and pickup everything that comes out from under the tail.
If you’re an investor there’s safer places to put your money. Good luck! -
If you are going to hire drivers , I think I can help you out. Having observed FedEx contractors and employees for years, this suggestion will help make the hiring process easier.
Dear Potential Employee, please answer the following questionnaire:
1. Are the Love’s fuel island pumps your reserved parking spaces?
2. Are you willing to drive 75 mph no matter the traffic or weather conditions?
3. Do you prefer to stop in the median or run off the shoulder?
4. Is the center lane divider merely a suggestion?
5. Are pretrips annoying and unnecessary?
Look for a driver that answers yes to all these, and it will be a smooth transition.Big_D409, PoleCrusher, win-some-loose-less and 5 others Thank this. -
I understand this type of business is not truely passive. That it would take work.
I’m not expecting to just sit around and the cash to just flow in. More looking to see what other people’s experiences have been with line haul. The good and the bad.

When, not if, you lay the truck on it’s side will you be able to block both lanes and both shoulders, not just run out in the median and just flip the back trailer..
If the answer yes just hand him the keys.Big_D409, shogun and blairandgretchen Thank this. -
shogun Thanks this.

last wednesday i got passed by a fedex contractor at the 151 mm in adverse weather conditions. he/she managed to position the truck on its side, facing oncoming traffic, 100’ off the road, in a field...all by the 131 mm. i wasn’t even mad about it, kind of impressed actually.
hammer down.blairandgretchen and shogun Thank this. -
