Hello,
Do power units require both the federal and state inspection stickers ? If so can someone provide me with a link to a web page that I can print for to show the company ?
Sincerely,
Eyesight

What state are you posting about,Fed yea, state only if that state req. one.
-
New York State requires one
-
Here in Pa--we have State Inspections--and that state windshield sticker satisfies the inspection requirements....so it would seem that any state with its own inspection would be the same but I cant verify that---
-
double yellow Thanks this.

Here in Minnesota I have mn plates so I have to get a state inspection.
Are your plates from the same origin as the inspection?
state inspection has more checks and isn't as lenient. -
Good question. I run my carrier's Indiana plates, but I live in NY. Do I need an IN state inspection?
-
Indiana doesn't have vehicle inspections for cars, but I couldn't tell you about big trucks. I need to know that myself.

Federal DOT Regulations
Effective on October 22, 2008, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), added the Commonwealth of Massachusetts annual safety inspection program for commercial motor vehicles to their list of Programs which have been determined to be comparable to, or as effective as, the Federal Periodic Inspection requirements contained in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSRs).
All commercial vehicles, trailers and converter dollies are subject to the Massachusetts Commercial Vehicle Inspection . The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) approved the Massachusetts Commercial Vehicle Inspection as equivalent to the annual FMCSA or "DOT" inspection. If your commercial vehicle/trailer receives a state safety inspection, you are not required to obtain a separate FMCSA or "DOT" inspection.
The Vehicle Inspection Report (VIR) issued by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts that is signed by the licensed vehicle inspector is proof of compliance with FMCSA inspection requirements, not the windshield sticker on the vehicle. RMV recommends that the VIR is maintained inside the vehicle at all times.
Massachusetts registered single, full, or semi-trailers that are used in commerce and have a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) over 3,000 pounds, or commercial vehicle/trailer combinations with a gross combined weight rating (GCVWR) of over 10,000 pounds are subject to this requirement, as are all heavy duty motor vehicles (over 10,000 pounds GVWR) and converter dollies.
Federal Register/ Vol. 73, No. 205 / Wednesday, October 22, 2008 / Notice
The following is a complete list of States with inspection programs that FMCSA has determined are comparable to, or as effective as, the Federal PI requirements.
Alabama (LPG Board), California, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Hawaii, Illinois, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia
