Hi, truck came in with three 39 codes, two vgt codes and egr not responding. I pressure tested egr cooler, cleaned delta-p sensor lines, as well as the end of the temp I also replaced the EGR valve assembly. I dont have any exhaust leaks in the system. My delta-p counts look normal, around 111 usually. EGR temp is acting normal. Code 39 147/7 EGR not responding became active on the highway, EGR stays at 100% drove back to shop, switched ignition off and restarted engine code is no longer active and EGR will drop and fluctuate with throttle position. Im stumped lol. Also ECM fuses look good, as well as battery terminals and ground posts. BTW this is DDEC V, has hydrolic EGR , no egr V-POD.

Truck also has plenty of power, runs fine and makes good boost. Jakes with VGT works too.

s 147/7 means VNT Vanes not responding .

Code s 147/7 - occurs if error in actual EGR rate vs desired EGR rate (Actual - Desired) during EGR mode operation. This FMI signifies excessive EGR flow. This fault will lock boost mode operation and illuminate the AWL for the remainder of the ignition cycle if the actual is greater than the desired.

when last time you have changed the vpod?

your vpod is bad . if its still original and you have more than 500k miles replace it. remember on your engine that vpod is guilty for 90% of 39 codes.

your engine has only one vpod. that's for operating turbo vanes. located on right rear side of engine. The braided air hose goes from turbo actuator to that vpod.

Yes but why would that be causing egr not to respond

your vpod sends more pressure to turbo actuator. the turbo overblows. to lower nox level ecm opens egr valve wide and you have excessive EGR flow--> fmi 7.

Okay. My vgt does seem like it's always around 70% then egr likes to be at 100 unless you snap the throttle bringing it down to 50%
