3 routes mileage is nearly identical.
Fargo to Bismarck ND to belfield ND Hwy 85 to Rapid City SD to Denver is my preferred route..delivers Monday morning.
GPS says 29 south to 90 west to 18 to 83 toward North Platte NE and on to Denver.
Last route is 29 south to lincoln..80 to 76 into denver.
    Thoughts?

Cutting down from Murdo SD saves some miles. Look at 94 to Jamestown, south to I 90, then west to 83 down through North Platte. It is shorter to go south of Kearney to 34/6, then west to Araphahoe, south to HWY 36 then west into Colorado to Interstate 70.

Sorry, North Platte is a little west of Kearney. Look at the map, 36 is a straight shot west, BUT do not use 36 in snowy weather. You will figure it out.

Don’t go south of Murdo on 83. It’s being rebuilt and has some sections that aren’t really passable when it’s wet.

We drive every single week from Denver to Grand Forks. After trying few different options, we found the best is using i76 to i80,
then 83 from North Platte, NE to Mission, SD,
    then 18 to 183 and to i90
    Then 90 to 29

Also Denver to Omaha and then to Fargo is pretty much just as fast if you do 70-72mph, but it's more miles

    bzinger and mp4694330 Thank this.

I’d prob head south on 29 and then cut over towards Yankton SD. Then south to Columbus NE, then down to Grand Island NE and jump on I-80 to I-76. Another option would be dropping south out of Kadoka SD and then getting on I-80 at Ogallala NE.

I probably would have took the last one, but I've always liked going across Nebraska. That's my only reason

Your preferred route is what I would do, except not go to Rapid. I would take Hwy. 85 to I-90 in Spearfish and then go west to Hwy. 585 in Sundance, WY. Take that to Newcastle and get back on hwy. 85 South and take that to I-25 in Cheyenne, and then south to Denver.

I'd do 29s to Watertown, backroads to Valentine and then N Platte.
