I see drivers on occasion with their spouse and children in the truck. That makes me curious... What's the legality of this? Regardless of company policy...

If the company permits it, it's legal.

I have a friend that goes all over with his wife and small girl. Not saying its all legal, but he's never had a problem. I think the girl is in a car seat mostly but it just sits on the bunk in the sleeper.

Technically, that netting in the sleeper is supposed to be used when the truck is moving. In 8 years of mostly team driving I have never seen anyone use it. Nor have I ever seen DOT check to see if it's being used.

I asked a trooper if it was legal for my 6 or 9 year old to ride with me this summer. He said it's legal.

I've been riding in the front seat of a truck since I was probably about 4. No seatbelt or FA.
Oh the #### you could get away with in the early 90's.Rideandrepair, D.Tibbitt, Dave_in_AZ and 1 other person Thank this. -
2 people in a truck , most insurance companies will not let you take a child under 12. , a lot of companies just let children between 12 and 18 ride in the summer break only to save $$$ ..... most of the families you see are doing it illegal wether its your own truck or not
