Just wondering if anyone has ever heard of Ezzell trucking. They have a yard in Charlotte and Wilmington NC. Do they hire students? Thanks

My husband works for them, but I wish he didnt. But hay when you get laid off and there is nothing else out there because of the economy, you work for anyone hiring.
Heres the scoop about them
.28 unloaded
.34 loaded
he only averages 1500 miles a week.
It isnt over the road, it is regional (mostly NC, SC, also goes to GA, VA, TN)
We deal with them not paying him for everything he did every week.
The communication is not good at all.Last edited: Jan 26, 2009

Thier terminal shared the property with my truck school. Very nice equipment, KW's and custom trailors. I inquired with them but it doesn't sound like they are true OTR, more like a just a few states. They required 1 yr OTR experience for hire.

Charlotte. I don't think that was the case 10 years ago though, the school had moved there within the last couple years. Hoskins road I think.

well now that my husband no longer works for them as of a week ago because of getting hired by a much better trucking company than ezzell, (and I'm not afraid of them firing him now)... I will really say how I feel about this pathetic excuse for a trucking company.
I would highly recommend no one working for this company or even doing business with them. They do not pay you for everything you do. We are still fighting for pay from 2 months ago. ( since they lost his paper work) The communication, and organization of this company is very poorly managed.
The supervisor you would have to report to as a dry van driver or if you have missing pay (and you will) has got to be the most rude person I have ever had to deal with when it came to employers. She isn't friendly at all and she will make you feel insignificant with her mannerisms.
My husband was lucky to bring home $450 a week after being gone for 5 - 6 days. Most of the time it was closer to the 400 mark.
Drivers were already making very little per mile and it has now been taken down to .26 unloaded / .32 loaded. When is comes to hauling mulch for them... first of all good luck on getting paid for it.... and if you do... you only get $80 per a load.... that is to haul the mulch to the destination then drive back to the fill site to load up again. I ask.... How can they expect anyone to live on that.
Finally.. when it comes to working their drivers over what DOT allows.... they wont hesitate to do it. There where a couple weeks that my husband was already over his allowed hours to drive and they wanted him to go somewhere else and was just told to "adjust" his log book. (although... I will say that wasnt coming from his boss... but rather it came from dipatch)
So would you work for or even do business with a company that carries its business like this? I would hope not. -

You know... I would love to say but I would be afraid they would come on this board and see what I put and then call the company up and ruin things for him. I wouldnt put it past his ex boss. hope you understand
ironhand Thanks this.
