Here is something that I'm thinking about doing and would like advice from the people that know.
I would like to run my engine oil into the external, ratiator, oil cooler after it's passed through the bypass filter.
Here's my question: the 780 Volvo with the isx and the automatic tranny-does it use the radiator, to cool he tranny oil, that has antifreeze running through or; does it use it's own exteranal/dedicated radiator.
If it uses the regular antifreeze radiator, I might be able to replace my radiator With the radiator that was meant to cool the tranny oil and run the engine oil in it, instead.
If the truck has it's own radiator then, I might use that.
Part numbers and good places to buy would be appreciated.
Thank you.

the amount of oil passing through a bypass oil filter will make an insignificant contribution to oil cooling if you attempt to cool it before sending it back to the sump.

why on earth do you think you need an external oil cooler?
on that year, the transmission oil cooler is built in the lower tank of the radiator. if you get underneath the truck, you'll see two tranny cooler lines going in at the bottom. -
That's great. All I need is to buy a used rad. Made for the truck with the auto tranny, take my out, install that one, and plum the lines for the engine oil. I want to lower the temp of the engine oil, the cooler it is the better. -

Closer to 200*f vs 150*f. -
guys, if your truck got Volvo engine oil cooler is located on cyl. block, it cools down oil with coolant and it is efficient enought.

I have the cummins isx. I want to try and be able to run below 200*f on the hot summer day on the 6% and higher hills, loaded.
