Would like to hear from anyone who has tried tire monitoring systems:
which supplier, how were the sensors mounted (inside, flow-thru, or cap style), does your read temp as well, how long batteries lasted, problems of any type?
I have used Dual Dynamics equalizers for 13 or so years with good results, but want to go to the next level.
Experiences with TPMS?

really TMPS is tire pressure managment system, lets maintaine pressure in tires, but some makers call tire pressure monitoring system TMPS))) good thing anyway, but... you have to inflate tires manuallly

No experience on commercial apps but have used on 4 wheeler applications. I want to go with an pressure equalization system for my drives then add a TPMS (6 wheel application) to monitor TP. If you want to monitor temp then the sensor would have to mount inside the rim which I think would be impractical for commercial tires because of the valve stem design. Pressure variance not withstanding leaks, is a function of temperature anyway. Might be critical if you are traveling at great speeds like I did in Kuwait.

I stand corrected on the temp sensing function. While looking at the specs for the Doran 360 CE system it does have temp sensing and will activate an alarm if the temp reaches 248 degrees F. I think that going to a Crossfire system that gives you a visual indication would be the most cost effective solution for now. Mobile Awareness has released a system using wireless technology but it is a pricey system and does not address pressure equalization which is more important I think.

I am bumping up the topic, because I am shopping around for an aftermarket TPMS for my new truck. I think this essential for the super singels. Bendix already has a commercial intire set and it available at most OEM, but Kenworth is still testing it, and for some reason they delayed the availability. There are several after market velve systems with temperature sensor too, but it would be good to hear some real life experience.

I have looked-around and I think I will be trying (when I got the $) a system from Truck System Tech., www.tsttruck.com.
I like some of the features and they claim to be have recently gotten their 'foot in the door' to be OEM with Freightliner, which I would think is a good sign. They seem to be into the motor home industry as well. -

I would recommend the Pressure Pro system. But, they all offer decent solutions. For real cost effective monitoring, I would recommend Tire Watch LED valve caps http://www.realwheels.com/ledtirewatch.html Watch the video on the site. This is the easiest, simplest, most cost effective way to go.

I have narrowed down to Pressure Pro, Doran 360 or TST. I want the in cab display with warning. The first two were the industry leader for long time, but the TST seems a good product too, since they took it over over the system in 2008. And yes they are OEM for Freightliner, but unfortunatelly it does not always means the best quality, often the price is higher on priority. But me, if I pay for it, I want the best, most reliable system.
