I pulled reefers for 18 years and that hazmat endorsement kept me rolling all the time. The drivers that didn't have hazmat, many times had to sit a day waiting for a non-hazmat load. They laughed at me for having hazmat, but I was the top paid driver at the terminal because I did.
One example, 4 or 5 of us were empty in Ohio. The dispatcher found a load of paint going to Los Angeles and the load was hazmat. Being the only driver with hazmat, I loaded and headed to Los Angeles. The other drivers had to spend the night in Ohio and hope for a load the next day.
