Hey guys, after insurance is filed & BOC3 is filed on a new authority (DOT #) I was told it takes 2-3 weeks for you to receive the letter and for the authority to become active.
Now, I see third party companies selling a service to expedite the authority letter for $75. Is this real?
I called them up and they said it will normally take up to 30 days, but they can expedite it to 2 weeks?
Does it normally take 30 days? How do you expedite it? Is it something I can do myself? When I asked them that questions they said that you actually have to know someone that works there.
Expedite DOT Process, federal authority letter?

Most of the time it is 3-4 weeks to activate new authority. DOT # is given as soon as you request it. On expediting the authority letter they are probably just talking about sending the filing papers overnight to D.C but it probably won't speed it up that much. After all you are dealing with the government.
Jrdude5 Thanks this. -
@superwayne thanks brother!
Ok, so TXDMV (previously known as TXDOT) is saying im currently authorized for intrastate operations. On safer, it says NOT Authorized for DOT. Now, does that mean I can operate in Texas? -
they can't do it any quicker than you can. The fastest I know of is to have all your ducks in a row, then submit it all in one day. Including your BOC-3, MCS_150 and insurance filing. When I talked to FMCSA this past Monday about it, they said it can take about 10-14 days then once all papers are received.

Now dont take this as permission to run because I'm not looking at all your paperwork. If your insurance is in effect, you have a dot number marked for intrastate operation, 2290 paid and you have a base plate you should be good for texas. You will have to watch your authority and when it shows active flip your dot number over to interstate operations. You will need an ifta account and a drug program too. Maybe call ooida and talk to the permit department.

And UCR too.
