I've had several new cdl graduates and some thinking about going to work for SNBC pulling tanks message me with many good questions. I have tryed to answer all and share what I think can help them. Some ask about pay and I can only really show you what I do at Schneider as pay go's. So here go's.
I'm a new driver with only a year experience and have only drove for Schneider only so I'm not sure what's great pay or horrible pay but I seem to do ok so far. I went to Schneider to get the tanker training most of all but things have turned out pretty good their. So if I ever change company's it will be due to closer to home I believe, pay seems to be not that bad. But again I don't have experience to compare to any other places since I've only driven here at snbc.
I'm posting 3 pictures of my pay, which will represent my last hitch over the road. I was out a total of 18 days straight, i didn't have to do 18 days straight but I had a break down and I get daughter once month so this is just how it worked best this hitch. In these 18 days working I didn't work 4 of them due to break down or layover. So only 14 of them I was actually driving and working. Hope this makes since.. I make 46 cents per mile, I thought I was at a higher cpm, but I just realized I'm not..only 46, which I've been told isn't bad for a driver to start out at right after cdl school. Once again I'm not sure on this due to I'm a rookie. My cpm is for every mile, loaded, empty and bobtail.
I hope this makes since to anybody thinking bout snbc, if just ask and I will clarify the best I can.
The 1st pic is of my first 7 days out
The 2nd is of the next 7 days
The 3rd is only 4 days out of pay. I came home yesterday to take off 4.
I'm sure their probably is better pay at other company's, or what have you. So I don't recommend nor talk down about snbc. I can only show you my experience with them as a new cdl holder. My biggest complaint is I wish my truck went faster than 63mph.. This sucks.. Oh yea, I'm in the per diem at snbc, so they take 2 cents of my pay away from me and I get my 63 dollar tax break every day vs getting it at the end of the year. So I'm only getting payed for 44 cents per mile since they take 2. I really not sure if I like this or not. If was not in the per diem I'm guessing my paychecks would be about 40 bucks a week higher or something like that.
So the total for my 18 days out, 14 days of working with 4 days layover pay due to breakdown or reset was
$ 3,440.95. I usually do alittle better than this but this is how things went this hitch., can't always be great weeks

I make .40. I keep telling my company that their pay is too low but they say that sni payd only .38. I was offered .47 when I spoke with the houston OC. But I also had 12 years driving (no tanker yet).
People will also want to know about what your accesorie pay is.
Thanks, buddy -
You can get 48 cpm I'm sure if u tell them that's what u wanted. After 1 year you get 2 cpm raise, every year to maxed out on pay.

Maybe people look at things differently than me, or spend differently than me, but I say working 14/18 days a month and making 40 grand a year is pretty legit!
(Assuming you only worked this type of hitch once a month, which I understand you're not trying to - but just hypothetically)
Thanks for the clarity on what's really on the check. I see a lot of people talking money but not a lot of them showing it!LateNightCable and Cuban_P Thank this. -
Accessory pay sucks, 25 loading, 35 unloading and only 10 per hour. And layover pay also suck, 65 day.. but at end of week I always get my check and somehow I'm happy with what I ended with. But I also work bout as hard as I can during the week. I never waste a minute usually. 10 hour after 35 for unloading during summer sucks when u got some thick crap that needs pumped into totes

Just looked at my deposits for march......man, you blew me out of the water! Granted, march was a lousy month, but still. If I net more than a grand, thats a great week. Our pay system is way outdated. We use trip pak so sometimes you miss a trip or 2 on a particular week

Yeah it seems the grass is always greener somewhere else in trucking, so I'm learning. But as far a living goes, in my lifestyle, 40k/yr only "working" 18 days a month is pretty comfortable.
