There's one time that I always blow by a scale, and that's when it's a safety issue. Two scales come to mind, one being the Banning scale on I-10 in CA and the other is the scale eastbound I-20 approaching Atlanta that some idiot of an engineer decided to place at the bottom of a blind hill. Both scales like to pull in either all or most truckers, they're incredibly busy, and the backup reaches the travel lanes in a hurry. A few months ago I believe there was a fatality at the Atlanta scale when a truck rear ended another truck stopped on the freeway.
Always bypass when the line reaches the freeway. If LEO wants to chase me down I'll give them a lecture about safety and a link to the video with the burning rig in Atlanta.
Ever blow by a Weigh Station when it was open?

Oh my, I've accidentally on purpose blown by one or two over the years. And who hasn't done the "Drag your feet, drag your feet, HAMMER DOWN!" at Banning, Cajon, Ktown, etc. Although most of the time I never saw any scales on the roads I ran, at least not an open scale.

I was coming down State 15 in NY back in June when I was OTR with Werner. Slow moving cars in the right lane, going down a gentle grade, so I signaled and got in the left lane. Soon as I came around the curve, there was an orange sign that said All CMV must exit. I safely could not get over to exit.
After I cleared the slow cars, I got over in the right lane turned the flashers on slowed to 45 and waited for 'em to come get me, but they never did.
sometimes, circumstances just dont allow you to get off the highway and come in.
I also remember my very first week, the dumb blue pass didnt beep telling me to come in, but it didnt beep telling me I could bypass either and I didnt know what to do, because no one ever told me and it was never covered in training. So i kept going, luckily no one came after me.Vito Thanks this. -
I was in a day cab without a trailer in WA on I-94. They have this funky little scale there where you have to take the normal exit to get to it. It was my first trip by myself. I missed it. So I hit the next exit and went back to the scale. I went through it and they didn't even pull me in. I was a little happy about not getting anything from that one.

It depends on the state I'm in whether I miss them on accident...
