I noticed they are hiring for multiple positions in DFW, TX.

Does anyone know if they will take me on if I have 7 months of LTL experience?

I know they run teams also, would it be possible they would hire me and put me with another driver to run OTR to get the rest of the 12 months experience before they allow me to go solo?

Just feeling it out, thank you.

I start YRC sometime in the next week or so but it doesn't hurt to keep options open, if Estes requires 12 full months of driving experience then I have no issue with putting the time in with YRC.

I have heard of some LTL companies not hiring union truck drivers through which is a concern I do have, at Yellow are you required to be in the union?

Estes doesn't like all that jumping around jobs. No they will not put you with another driver. You have to come to the company with your partner already. If they look at your resume and see ALOT of short stints with companies, they won't even call you.

It wouldn't hurt to try, just giving you a heads up. I have no clue why you chose yrc. Aren't they drowning? @Chinatown

I chose YRC because they’re the only LTL company that will accept an MVR with less than 1 year that I know of. If I get with them I’ll probably stick around for a while as I don’t like hopping around either, only reason I had to leave my last company (though I’m technically still employed) is because my dads wife died and he’s pretty much on his way out as well so, I moved to help take care of him.

Here you are, and I would assume all other terminals are the same also. You'll get a blue paper card and maybe even a couple of union decals you can stick onto your lunch box!

I'm not sure how other terminals work, but the one I worked at everyone was a 'combination worker', meaning you were expected to do everything. It's actually really good experience to have on a resume, since not everyone can put up with that style of work... Half the day loading broken goods onto trailers, then picking up and delivering broken goods around town. Pinning up and breaking down sets because the highway guys don't do that. If you get really lucky, you'll get stuck running a 40 year old yard goat without heat hostling trailers around on a night shift!

I was hired for the Linehaul position at YRC, my recruiter mentioned that about being a combination worker and initially told me that as well but then said “never-mind, you’re linehaul”.

It doesn’t matter to me though, work is work and you’re right, it is good experience to have on your resume.
