I'm currently a wannabe and I've gotten an offer to work for this company after I get my cdl. Anyone ever worked for this company with feedback would be greatly appreciated

Is that a line haul position or p and d driver? Estes isn't the best but there's so much worst out there it's a no brainer for someone who doesn't even have a license yet. If your set on trucking jump all over it. I'm assuming you're talking about the Charlotte terminal which is a hub. Should be lots of work available there. I'm amazed they can't get people with good experience though.

It's a dedicated route to and from VA double trailer m-f no weekends. I'm sure they get experienced truckers...I'm just lucky to have someone on the inside that can help me get on. Only thing is that I have to unload and I believe it's hourly pay

That's actually a pretty sweet gig for someone with no experience. The VA location is probably their hub in Richmond. Your looking at probably a little over 500 miles a night. Having to work the dock makes for a long hard shift but I can't imagine it will be anymore than an hour or two. On the bright side, that job will pay pretty well. Bad part, probably nothing but night work and go to bed after the sun is up (all the time). If you're set on trucking that job is far above anything that is usually available to a new driver. A lot of seasoned drivers would drool over an opportunity like that.

Yeah my family has a lot of hands in the trucking industry and now I'm just upset with myself for not starting as soon as I hit 21. Hopefully everything works out for me. Thanks

I dont want to call your new found friend a bad name but sounds to me like hes not telling you the truth? At Estes I believe you have to have a CDL for atleast a year or 2 to get a hub job and thats what it sound like even to get a job it takes experience to get hired? Good luck with that.

I'm keeping all options open as we all know life rarely goes as expected. I keep my expectations high and my anticipation low:)

I had almost three years experience with another company, that didn't pay all that great;but at least they never lied to me!!! I was hired for line-haul for the South Bend,Indiana terminal, and asked to ride with another driver. I had given more than a months notice to my former employer, which meant that Estes had that much notice as well. The third night there, they had a log-in number and a password for the People Net onboard computer in the truck, but guess what? After the better part of an hour of trying to log-in,it still wouldn't work! We couldn't wait all night,so we left for Columbus,Ohio.Upon our return in the morning, this was mentioned to one of the office staff in charge, and she told the driver;"That's impossible"! He let her know right quick that she was cordially invited to go out to the truck and try it herself,if she didn't believe him. That did change her mind, and then I was informed that I needed another drug test,as mine had expired, being over one month old.I went to the clinic, and got that taken care of,and left for home.I had car troubles on the way home, and didn't get any sleep at all that day.I sent my driver a text message informing him of that, keeping Dot rules in mind.I got a reply back from him just before my cell phone carrier's system went down for at least the next five days! (found out later about a direct hit from lightning to the tower, due to storms that had passed through that day).My former manager was also aware of the situation, having tried to contact me without success. This was unknown to me at the time,as the phone itself appeared to function and make calls as before, although without any answer. But I did notice that the memory of recent calls and texts was blank.Since my contact info.was lost,I tried contacting them over the internet.Eventually,I contacted their corporate office at Virginia, who contacted South Bend. The Manager dismissed it completely, even when I told him to contact my former manager at Moran Transportation,Warsaw,Indiana if he wanted it verified or to see if I had previous issues during the three years prior to this. But he blew me off completely! The assistant manager had promised me the sun, moon, and the stars,as the old saying goes, and they couldn't wait to dump me,even with proof!!! So don't waste you're time with this outfit at all!!!
