busy and behind the curve doing "online applications" & starting to find companies,.....skipped hazmat to start thinking I could find regional dry-bed to start to get some regulated hours and now I am finding all the T.W.I.C. type compliance is time-intensive @ 3 to ten times what I thought it would be ....
what is Enhanced CDL?...TMC "online" hire / career states "Hazmat, TWIC & Passport/FAST Card/Enhanced CDL preferred but not required to start" which is what I would like to find for yards in Eagle Ford Shale with vacuum trucks sitting waiting on drivers
.......
so since I am so swamped & busy right this moment and those fine points get lost with ten tabs open on the browser someone who can assist me please give me an initial scope on what exactly I should do to know regulatory compliance-grade knowledge of whatis for & how the three differ, I can do all the digging on what particular sites and companies state / what I want to know is what the regs are on this.
Thank you for your time & I have other drivers who will want to know on my

You might try google. There were 3 states that came up with one.

like a passport. EDL. issued in border states. I think.

The passport should be pretty self explanatory. Google will provide lots of resources for obtaining one if you don't already have one. If you have to get one, make sure you spend the extra couple bucks and get the optional passport card as well. Its your passport on a wallet sized card with an RFID chip and it can be used when driving across the border (IOW it can't be used for international air travel).
I never needed a FAST Card so I have no idea what it is. I'm sure others will comment.
An enhanced CDL is a CDL license with an RFID chip in it. In Michigan, getting one is simply a matter of going to DMV, paying a fee (about $50 IIRC) and bringing a metric ton of other forms of ID with you when you do it. Its really no big deal. Its just a license that says extra measures were taken to insure you were who you said you were at the time the license was issued. I think I had to bring a passport, some other government issued ID (I used my pilot license but other things would also work) a pay stub with my name and address on it, and a utility bill with my name and address on it.
That's how it is in Michigan, I assume its similar in other states. Your state probably has a website that will tell you exactly what forms of ID you'll need to bring. Follow that, pay your fee and Bob's your uncle. -
