First of all -- I think it's safe to say that I speak also for others here when I offer, "Please accept my sincerest condolences!"....over what has recently happened to you & your employment.
Regardless of the details that led up to the collapse, and the proper places to lay the appropriate blame -- I think we call all agree that what has transpired is incredibly sad -- and also very unfair.....to all those affected.
With all that in mind -- for those now looking for employment who have not already found such -- & just in case those affected have perhaps left what might otherwise be good stones unturned -- I would like to offer the following ideas (beyond the obvious other LTL sector carriers) as food for thought:
- Look for LTL opportunities in/near your area with FedEx contractors; some might even have home-daily opportunities.
- I know of at least 2 food-service carriers that employ doubles-type trailers in their fleet. This possible option might be either: a worthwhile permanent new gig for you -- OR -- a way to help keep your LTL skills sharp until that new gig you really want comes along, later.
- Another "take" on the food-service sector: in some cases, a food-service carrier will post job ads for a "shuttle" driver (or mention that "shuttle" positions are also available inside a regular 'delivery driver' posting). In some cases, these "shuttle" positions don't involve store deliveries -- but instead just move empty/loaded trailers from one facility to another. Many of these are home-daily jobs, too. Some will involve doubles-type trailer duties, and some won't. It might well prove worth your while to check these out.
- Chinatown has mentioned numerous times the use of employment agencies -- feel more than free to use the "search" feature here to look for specific names of those in other posts here on the Forum. Using one or more of these to have yet another set of eyes and ears out looking for ways to employ what you have to offer is never a bad idea.
- For those who can afford to wait -- the package delivery carriers will start to hire later....in order to gear up for the increased workloads that normally occur during the holiday season. The thinking here is that the month of October would probably be the prime time to look for those jobs (or perhaps even the second half of September).
- There are obviously other home-daily gigs potentially available....that will utilize an LTL driver's CDL endorsements. But....in an earnest effort to keep the "misery index" here to a minimum....I won't go there.
If others here can think of worthy options/ideas not mentioned/listed above...please feel free to post those as appropriate, below....

Something nonrepetitive that can't be automated such as driving a truck.
I'd imagine Walmart would be happy to have them. Sucks so many people lost their gig but is what it is.
Late September is when ups starts pulling in people off the street in Louisville. -
I’d guess that about half of those driver positions will get added on with the other LTL companies . That freight that yellow was moving is gonna have to get shipped with some trucking company .
mitmaks, Rideandrepair, ducnut and 2 others Thank this. -
Siinman, Rideandrepair and Lonesome Thank this.

The following is an example of what I was referring to earlier, in post #1 above:
Cheney Brothers -- home daily -- LTL type food service work -- shuttle driver

"Yellow" school bus driver.
A lot of the metro area schools have union bus drivers. -
Most of these guys are going to look, and hold out for, Teamsters gigs if possible so their years of investment into their retirements won't be lost.
We hired one for our only available shuttle position in the company. Every other person inquiring was looking for home daily positions only.tscottme Thanks this.
