company provided me with a tablet that is slow as crap…1 1/2 hours to login and add units the other night..20 minutes just to logout…Im coming unglued with the POS,,DRIVER SERVICES IT tells me restart…well duh,,i been doing restarts daily…powered down daily,,its updated…just outdated tablet I think and GEOTAB has poor reviews.
My question is are most of you using your phones as tablets? Im likely to start and then i can also claim my eleventy billion dollar annual phone bill….

Depends on the tablets age, version of operating system it is running; which affects the capabilities of the software it runs. You probably got an outdated GEOTAB, and while I have no experience with them, I'd bet that if you went and bought a new tablet directly from Geotab, it would be a newer tablet with newer android OS running newer Geotab software. Also, the newer tablets can accomodate a wider variety of newer apps from Mapping to Customer or Railyard Apps like CN/CP, ect ect

Edit; Some ELD providers will sell you the older versions for your whole fleet for a discount - provided they plan to continue service updates. Otherwise they would let you know when they plan to discontinue support and push you into newer hardware.

Our Geotab tablets can get slow at times, but not nearly as slow as what you are talking about. We were originally with Sprint but when T-mobile bought them out we got new tablets that run on the 4g network. If you are in an area with weak cell phone signal, I believe that can cause slow issues, also check to see if the tablet is trying to connect to a Wi-Fi signal. Sometimes I have to turn off the Wi-Fi because the signal is too weak to force it to use cell signal.

Downloading the app onto your phone is a possible solution as there is no connection from the mobile device to the truck.

Geotab on my phone. Make sure you log out after shift or the app keeps logging you on duty or driving (personal vehicle, etc). Messes up those resets..
