So I'll be in El Paso for the first time Friday. I see there is a Loves, Petro, and a Flying J. Is there anyone you prefer over the other? Probably gonna be there for 18 hrs..

Man ... I used to run out to El Paso from San Antonio 3 turns a week (out at night, back the next day, 70 MPH average speed, then sleep a day) but that was several decades ago and all the truck stops out off of Horizon were nothing but hangouts to attract speed dealers and lot lizards. But I guess things have changed since then. I only pass through 2 or 3 times a year lately.

The Loves offers the best view of the sunset, and it has a fried chicken stand inside, terrible service and food.
    The Flying J has nothing.
That leaves the Petro, there's a small Mexican restaraunt below it, no Cervasa there.
But on the west side of the lot, there's a bar, oddly I never been to it, yet.
Or you could go across the border.

I'm hoping to find a store that might sell some flasks, knife sheaths, or western stuff made from the area too.

I never been here, but seems the billboards said they had truck parking.
I usually stop at the tourist shops in New Mexico and Arizona,

Just don't crash at my apartment. :p

Petro would be your best bet for an extended stay. Too bad I'm not home, I would be glad to get you some real food. :)

El Paso saddle blanket is a good choice for western stuff. If you need a Walmart, the store at the Yarbrough exit has dedicated truck parking.

The flying j was renovated several years ago. Parking lot is kind of awkward but what J isn't?

The Love's is a typical Love's, nothing exceptional.

Take the 3rd Marine Division with you if you decide to go to Juarez. My friend that lives in El Paso won't even go there to visit his mom, he makes her come over and visit him

I appreciate the invite! So check this out, Saddle Blanket has closed and is only open online now! Nice website. This is exactly the type of store I wanted to go to! @tucker All I can find online is a place called El Paso rugs and he said he has truck parking but has a different type of stuff but I'll go look anyway. If you all know of another place in El Paso, let me know. I've already got stuff from Arizona and New Mexico. I need some real Texas stuff!

I always stay at the Petro when I'm down that way. That would probably be your best bet.
