Egr cooler cleaning or replacement?

Hello Brothers
Hope all is well. I have a 2004 Columbia with a Detroit 60 Series 12.7l. I have installed an "Ugly Fix" to disable the EGR. (Works great by the way). I've had for about a year now. It seems that I need to replace the EGR cooler now. Which leads me to my questions...

1. Is there a way to clean the EGR cooler? If so, how?
2. Can I replace the EGR cooler with a custom made stainless steel pipe or the pipe from the previous non-egr Detroit 60 series?
