2016 pete 579 check engine light on can't get rid of it!
Had 3 codes 1883,1845 and 5868 had them cleared on a generic lap with insite at a small shop! But light stayed on brought truck to our shop and found that it has no codes ,checked ESA and there are no codes in there either, was going to recalibrate the ecm but can't get any of our three laptops to do it, They all connect but won't calibrate, tried thru the cab and hooked direct to the engine, but keeps coming up with the same code and says calibration certification is bad cummins says its a Peterbilt problem.
One week ago we replaced the DPF filter[Recon],cleaned DOC,Replaced turbo actuator,In and Out Nox sensors, and cleaned everything up.the codes 1883,1845,adn 5868 were the same codes I got just before the work was done!
Maybe something happened at the small shop when they hooked up the generic insight?
injectors, good, maintenance free CV filter, everything seems to good and clean!
Any Thoughts?

Might need to flash (or re-flash) software the newest software to all the computers (engine, cab, ABS, etc) could be the generic software corrupted the software certification on any of the modules.

ECM calibration update will most often not fix active or recurring faults.

OK......SO
1883 is most likely a wiring issue to the DPF sensor or possibly the sensor itself. Inspect the DPF wiring and chassis harness for rubs or shorts. Especially in and around the DPF box. Take the loom off the small jumper harness at the DPF sensor and inspect the shrink connectors for green death. Cummins puts 3 wires into 1 connector and they dont hold water out.
1845 is wiring open to WIF sensor on the frame mounted filter bowl. Pull test the wiring at the sensor. Broken wires are common inside the insulation on the harness side and the sensors themselves dont last forever either.
5868 - You do have a revision #17 for this code. I most certainly would get your software current before digging into this one. The software update is not an issue on the Pete side. Any Cummins dealer should be able to connect direct the the 3 pin and flash it up to date for you. Maybe your version of Insite is not capable of flashing?catnwhopper and QUALITYTRUCK Thank this. -
The latest calibration update was released 6/19. No idea why engine cannot be updated with proper software. Latest update has cured 5868 for me in the past. Fixing 1883 has also cured 5868 for me.
