Hey guys, been at this truck for a day now and has me scratching my head.
Key on and driving no issues, as soon as you turn key off it starts moving the xy shifter, dash flashes --, **, then back to neutral, over and over. Kills batteries eventually.
Anyone heard of this? Already swapped xy shifter as I know they can be problematic. Have a sister truck in the shop have swapped a few sensors, input shaft and output speed sensors. Swapped tcm, triple checked battery connection, starter connection and chassis ground integrity. New batteries.
Pulled transmission side harness and visually inspected, no chaffing or bad connectors. Thinking about swapping harness truck to truck.
Also should mention swapped all relays truck to truck and checked all fuses.

Constant powers to the TECU are wired direct to the battery.

I'm curious, with the ignition off is there any voltage on the ignition power supply at the TECU? If possible can you back probe the ignition power when its acting up?

I would contact the Eaton call center and run it by them. If it been seen before, they should know the fix.

As Goodysnap is alluding to......i think you have backfed current on the "key switch" wire of that TECU. If you have a schematic for that truck find the "keys switched" power wire and check to see if you have power on it with the ignition off, if you do, work your way back up the harness checking till you the issue. Could be something as simple as water in a connector to a bad ground in that circuit.

I’ve experienced a similar issue twice. I tracked it down to me putting the transmission into neutral then shutting off the truck before it came to a complete stop. Confused the heck out of something in the transmission ecu.

I believe the ** is loss of datalink connection with Trans ECU. I have repaired couple T880 chassis with a bad factory splices on the V CAN. "Splice" is near firewall in harness. About 6 inch long section of heat shrink tubing over it, wires are literally just twisted together, then heat shrink put over them.
