I have a set of 3:36 dsp 40 rears im taking out of my 06 Kenworth. I have a a set of ds 404 3:70 full lockers I was wanting to swap in place of them. I used to run the left coast, but I'm done with the big road and now just run close to home. I run eastern Ohio, Kentucky and wv.

question is, does anyone know if the the ds 404 will fit the dsp40 housings? I have been told they will work and the ds 404 were replaced by the dsp40. just wondered if anyone has done this. Thanks.

They still make both they are the same they are interchangable. You will have to notch out the banjo housing to accept the locker solenoids and you will need the right rear and left front axle shafts that go with the locking rears.

Yes, I've done it. It will work both ways.

However, if you do want to put the full locker 404 into the non locker ds/rs40 housings like I did, you have to gind the banjo housing out to accommodate the locker shifter fork mechanism.

Otherwise, it's a straight swap. @dirthaller was correct.

    Thanks for the reply.

I'm getting rid of AG100 and replacing it with AG400, which has the DS 40 housing's and was hoping to use my thirds. Sounds like it will work.

One thing I forgot to mention @2CAN .

Make sure you keep all the bolts and studs from your 404 diff. You will need to reuse them because the flange on the dsp40 diff are thicker and use longer bolts and studs to bolt the diff into the banjo housing.

    Good luck!
