I lost my key - what's the easiest way to start a truck without a key or lock picks?

If I pop out the ignition lock/switch what wires do I need to jump to start the truck?

Older trucks could be started by bypassing the starter solenoid:)

Nope, those were the old mechanical fuel pumps ;)

Yea, you'll have to get a locksmith, but you have a commercial vehicle. You may have to jump through some hoops.

    Make a spare....or two lol ;)

Actually, there are only so many keys that fit the doors. Ask a few drivers if they would unlock your truck :)

Did you call the dealer and see how much a new ignition cylinder is? They're usually cheaper than a lock smith. It's tough to get them out without a key, but you can drill them out, just don't drill into the ignition switch.

A dealer with the VIN can get you a new key cut to fit.

Yup. Lost the key for my '05 Pete, went to the dealer, gave them the vin (and showed some ID) and they gave me a key. Apparently, Stahl Peterbilt started copying drivers licenses before handing out "replacement" keys after a few new trucks were stolen. I guess guys would look over a truck on the lot, write down the vin then go in and say they lost their key and have a new one cut then steal the truck that night.

Agree.... Had that happen on a 03 freightliner and had the dealership in Springfield, MO make me a new key probably for under $20 bucks? Its been a few years... Had to pay for a cab as well... Much cheaper than a new ignition... Good Luck
