I don't know about your state, but when I went to register my truck 2 months ago, I could register it for whatever weight I wanted to. I registered it for 73,280 pounds which is the maxium weight for a triaxle dump truck in Pa. Should be as simple as that
HotRodConner12 and x1Heavy Thank this. -
DOT can put you OS. I have seen trucks with altered vehicle tags on them. Newer ones have stickers and older ones have stamped tags riveted in door jam. Do not exceed the combined rating of all of the tires, axles or suspension. Get someone to make you an altered vehicle tag. Then register it as such like cmrdv said. Only NC can speck for NC but some things work easier if you do not ask or tell.

You can go to just about any frame/spring shop and have them rerate your gvw. Or a truck dealership. And have the correct sticker.

You will have to have the truck GVWR re- certified because the DOT will surely see that tag and you will be shut down. The problem I see is unless you had some one that is willing to put their reputation and money on the line to recertify the truck you're probably SOL. -
In NJ we often see new tractors titled at 58,000 as that is the weight listed on the MSO. Then you go and attempt to get an IRP registration ad they send you back to get your title upped from 53K to 80K, more money, then you can come back and get your IRP plates.
Money can fix almost everything at the DMV -
Thanks for all the help I just called the place were I bought the truck from and this was his answer well we have a person that up fits these trucks your dump truck that you bought has been up fitted to 16k front axle 46k rear axle and 18k lift axle he said take a razor and remove the door tag and hung up the phone so looks like I got screwed on the sale and one last ditch effort my friend runs his own over the road service and is trying to get in touch with a dot inspector he has used to sign off for him taking 5th wheels and turning them into heavy wrecker really bombed out about this as I am starting this as a new business and over looked the freaken door sticker and now seems I have got suckered

I've been hauling gravel for many years, and have never had my door sticker inspected.
I insure my truck at the legal GVRW that I can haul on my tires and axles. This has never been a problem for me, but my truck did leave the plant built as a proper gravel truck, with the double frame and heavy axles.
Now, if the mods have been done right, why not run it? As an owner, you know that civilly you may be held responsible should something go horribly wrong, so just make sure you have done what you need to do, to make it reasonably safe.BoxCarKidd and tnpete Thank this.
