Hi everybody, I have a question for dump trailer operators. I recently became the owner of a 36 ft East tri axle steel end dump. I rented the trailer from a friend, ended up rolling it over, and so I bought it from him to make things right. Fortunately the frame is fine and the body wasn't too bad to fix. So my question for you all is, where would I look to find work for a trailer like this? I was using it to haul stumps and other tree debris off a small land clearing job I was doing. Besides that I'm not sure what you would use a trailer configured like this for. I own a small logging/land clearing business, I'm not opposed to trying trying some work outside of the scope of what I normally do, it would actually be nice to have something else to give my driver to do, I just don't know where to look. I talked to a friend who hauls scrap, he told me I'd have trouble getting in with the scrap yards because of the lack of volume I can fit in a smaller trailer. Also the trailer is pretty heavy, Truck and trailer weigh around 36k and the limit in my state for TT is 80k. Thanks for any direction you all can provide

Stumps and demo are probably going to be your best bets with a steel trailer, too heavy to use for most aggregate unless you are doing bank run gravel or such

Rip rap, demo debris, and scrap are gonna be the most lucrative options for that trailer in my opinion. You shouldn’t have any problem hauling prepared scrap, auto cast, machining chips and probably even shredded cast aluminum and still be able to get over 80k on it

Depending on your state and truck you might benefit from removing one of the axles…

What does an exle weigh? 1500 pounds. And lose 9000 pounds less. So basically 7500 pounds less he can haul. Theoretically.
He said he can only weigh 80k with three axles. Something don't add up.
Course. He didn't mention what state.Con707904 Thanks this. -
I'm located in Maryland. Removing an axle would be an option and wouldn't lower my 80k allowed gross weight

Landscaping supplies maybe. Processed bark, loam and big rocks like stone wall or beach walls etc

Make contact with asphalt/concrete driveway and parking lot construction companies. They always looking for trucks to haul away ‘clean-out’ material.

Check large construction companies. They usually need extra trucks on large jobs. Usually hourly rates they pretty much set at a take it or leave it deal but depending on your area it may be worth it.

Idk how much agriculture is around you, but that’s what I would check out. Hauling chicken litter is usually fairly good option. The extra axle would help with muddy situations. I know guys making a real good living buying litter from the farmer and hauling it to the fields for another farmer.
