I’ve inherited a 28ft aluminum tandem axle dump trailer, it has been sitting for a few years. It needs new tires. It has 11r24.5 tires on it currently. my mechanic recommended cheap tires since they never last.
I found some speedmax ss622 steer all pos 16ply tires.
I am wondering if 16ply will work? Or I need something different? Any other brands to look at?
the set of 8 is just over 2k plus mounting etc.

You can’t beat 2k for 8 though. But I know the saying, “You get what you pay for”…..

Yeah I know cheap tires don’t last, I know they are going to get torn up in the quarries so trying to get away on the cheaper side without it bitting me.

I’m not really sure what brands there are and what is good/bad. Open to suggestions

My old man ran China tires on his logging trailers. Why pay premium dollar for tires that are going to get cut & gouged up long before they're worn out?

Most quarries I’ve been to are pretty well maintained, you can either back around or kick any large debris out of the way, landfills are a bit harder and usually destroy a tire before it wears out, I’d be more worried about tight turns and any highway travel you do have while in transit then on site, but try the $2k set, cheap enough and worst case you go with something else on the next set if they only last 20k miles or start blowing out going down the road

that’s what I am thinking give the tires a try, I don’t really know brands and such so I’m trying to do some research but I need to order them soon. Don’t see the need to spend 5k on a set of tires but also don’t want to spend 2k and they blow the first trip.

Kumho, sumitomo, Hercules (which are either Firestone or coopers can’t remember), double coin, you have a few cheaper side of mid grade tires as well, last set of kumhos were $3100 for 8 and I swapped the casings for mounting

Edit: $3100 was low 22s for my fridge, want to say the tall 24s for the bucket were 35 or 3600 IIRC
