Dump trailer tailgate opener(air operated)

    Could a guy use a service brake chamber to replace the following(see photo)on a air operated tailgate for a dump trailer

    I was looking at a dump bed for a triaxle, brand new, and it had a brake chamber to operate the tailgate. Don’t have any pictures, and didn’t buy that particular bed, but it is possible.

    It’s been done before…although it usually requires modifying something because most of those air cylinder type things have considerably more stroke than a brake chamber. That one looks like a long stroke chamber will probably work. Does it have a spring in it to “open the gate” or just count on the load pushing it open.
