(South of Roanoke about 25 miles on US 220) Not much of a truck stop per say but they do sell fuel and have a convenience store. But I wanted to comment on the outstanding little diner there. Last time I was there maybe 10 years ago it was late and I only wanted coffee. But I was trucking through there enroute from Illinois to Danville, VA on a Sunday afternoon and was hungry. They had probably 6 different specials for lunch on a Sunday (sort of like blue-plate specials) and all for $7.99.
I also had cake for desert that was very worthwhile.
The Country fried steak I had was excellent, as was the 2 sides I selected. With the offerings, the choice was difficult. Looking around the other specials looks great too. The people there (wait staff and owner) are very friendly, and the prices are right, and the food is outstanding, and the parking is plentiful. It's not much to look at from the outside, but their service and food inside is worth the up and down driving through the beautiful VA backroads to get to if you ever have the opportunity to go that way.
This is one of the last of a dying breed of diner/truck stop. Trade with them while you can.

One of my favorite spots to grab a great affordable meal. I work for a company out of Roanoke, so I run 220 on a regular basis.
-
That route is going to be I-73 at some point.
-
I used to run through there 4 times a week and never stopped there...
Is it on the North bound side in the curve?
Trying to picture it... -
It's actually on south bound side as soon as you top Blackwater hill. It will kind of sneak up on ya once you top the hill lol Great little place to stop and eat. Friendly people, and fairly priced. I love about 15 minutes from there, and eat there occassionally.
-
I use to run 220 quite a bit up thru there and I have not a clue about this place, next time I head north ill have to keep my eyes peeled.
-
You can't miss it. Its a bp station adjoined to it. At night as usual it's packed with drivers sleeping or what not but they have plenty of parking. Let me know if youre up this way and I'll buy you dinner if I'm home!
-
If I'm going north is it on the left? I'm pretty sure I know what your talking about now, last week I saw a white flattop marmon parked there that's got to be the place.
-
Yes sir..if you're going north youll pass a gmc dealership on left..just pass the dealership is the truck stop. Only bad thing about getting in there north bound side is you have to cross road. Problem with that is it's at the top of a hill and those people fly on that road when they top that hill.
RunFlat Thanks this. -
Ill have to pay more attention thru there, thanks for the lead,
