Dan, I'm assuming food grade Pneumatic?

Is your pump truck mounted, or is the air supplied at the receiver?

Food Grade Pneumatic, yes. Specifically, I'm interested in knowledge pertaining to experiences with regular table sugar, and truck mounted blower.

i have loaded sugar, salt, flour, sugar and salt are the most difficult because if you overheat them you have a56K pound salt lick, sugar is worst , with salt your can add water. Sugar has to be kept dry. With sugar it is best to have a intercooler beteen the blower and the trailer.

When a load goes wrong youcodaaaly spend 8 to 10 hours getting it out of the trailer. Go to Harbour Freight and stock up on 1.00 rubber mallets.

Thanks, Powder Joints.. That's interesting about salt doing that too. I haven't heard that before. I have been told that there's a problem with overheating sugar, but most guys I have talked to that haul sugar only (or on regular basis), haven't mentioned anything about an intercooler. Is that what you run? The guys I've talked to that don't use any aerators or vibrators for sugar and just use top &/or line air, say they can unload roughly 53,000 lbs in about 2-1/2 hours. Do your experiences with an intercooler differ from that, by much? Thanks for your insight!

I was hauling 56,000 and a normal load would unload depending on the plant and silos, out the hose in about 45 minutes. There are reasons tho, you generally do not use vibrators on food grade because it will knock crap in the trailer that does not get washed out into the product. I balance my airator and top air probably 60% airator. Be careful not to let the blower get hot, sugar melts and the blowers can get up to 350+ degrees if you push to hard. You want the load to kind of crumble off the bottom.

Oh yea Flour is flammable when unloading so do not smoke near a flour load being transfered.

    blade and Dan_O Thank this.

Just to confirm, because I've not heard that yet... You do use your aerators when unloading sugar??

Yup I do. Line Air 75% balance airator and top air

Certainly appreciate Powder Joints experiences. Are there any others that have experiences to share/add regarding granulated sugar? Looking specifically for food grade dry bulk pneumatics. Thanks!
