So I figure I might as well bite the bullet and ask about my biggest personal drawback.

I've had a problem with illegal drugs (specifically meth) that I'm working hard to overcome and get out of my life completely.

I've been really lucky and never gotten into any trouble with the law or failed any drug tests, so I've got a clean record.

I have to admit, one reason I'm thinking about becoming a driver is that it would be a good way to get me far away from anybody I know around where I live right now that uses or sells this crap. I figure I don't want to be anywhere near any temptation. Likewise, I don't mind working in an industry that does regular drug testing, because that's just all the more reason to keep myself on the straight and narrow.

My question is, do you run into people using or selling on the road much? Are illegal drugs easy to run into from other drivers or at truck stops or elsewhere I'd be likely to find myself? If at all possible, I don't even want to have a chance of picking this up ever again.

    Thanks for any help.

    austinmike and Grumppy Thank this.

Agreed, never been approached - could be that I look like a bouncer or a cop, but never have been approached.

Druggies and drugs will always find each other; it's a force of nature like gravity.

    You are never going home?

You need to be a little stronger because meth is everywhere. The answer isn't running away but deciding to quit and do it. That includes changing your so called friends who are enablers. I remember when I quit drinking, eventially all my drinking buddies disappeared. Birds of feather flock together. Going trucking will just complicate your problems if you get caught. DOT doesn't take that stuff lightly. Are there people running around on the road trying to sell it? Not really. Only a few truck stops like W. Memphis and they are undercover cops. Can you find drugs on the road? Yes anyone can if they look. If you hear another driver on the CB asking for drugs, he usually gets ignored or people make fun of him.

Meth is probably the easiest drug to find at the truck stops.

This is true. If you're cool and been cool for some time, you can spot some one else that is cool from a mile away. Insert any word you want where "cool" appears in the previous sentence.
