The only thing holding up oral fluid testing is getting two labs certified to conduct the testing, there must be two separate labs certified for split sample testing. It will be much harder to cheat the oral fluid test and for people going through the SAP process it could eliminate direct observation urine collection.

Does JR only do urine? I have a 15 over speeding ticket which is keeping me from Carter Express until June. That sucks but it is on me. Other than that, I'm good

No company can report a failed hair follicle test as a failed test. Hair follicle isn’t not recognized by the DOT. Just don’t apply to a good company because they will remember you for a long time if you fail their follicle test.

In my past experience from 2002-2012, none of the major carriers are worth a crap anyway. It's hard to find a smaller company that will train. Unfortunately, my past experience doesn't count.

I'm not for sure. I'd call and ask, but use a different number. 15 over is a killer. Take what you know you can get for the time being but keep a short list of companies that only use urine tests.

I'll probably just go with Western Express flatbed division for 6 months. That's the only division they have that's not completely run through the mud on reviews. Then I've been eyeballing Sweet Express in Michigan. They seem to be a good small company

Man......don't be afraid to inquire to other companies about their policy. You have nothing to lose. Also, pay 0 attention to reviews. Most people only leave reviews when they complain. Every driver's story is different. Each company has some ambassadors and complainers. Perfect companies don’t exist either. Your experience will be contingent on how you approach the job. If you keep your head down and do what's asked of you, every company will be a good company.

All that being said, I started with Western Express flatbed and it was a good experience for me. Traveled everywhere. Stayed busy too. It wasn't uncommon to run to the west coast with them. Sometimes I had trouble getting home, but other than that, it was good. It actually was a lot of fun. I think you'll like it.

I appreciate that encouragement. I was starting to piece together that the negative reviews were from the lazy people that only want to work when it's convenient for them. I drove dry van in the past but was really considering the flatbed. Do you know anything about Boyd Brothers?

Kinda ironic considering how many times I had my doors blown off by a Carter truck back when I was OTR.

Anyway, I hope you find a company that will treat you well between now and June.

I've never worked for Boyd Bros but I imagine they're as good as any other flatbed company. They have nice modern equipment. My friend used to work for their sister company WTI. He did ok there....though they recently let him go because of the cell phone policy. If WTI and Boyd Bros are the same, then you'll get paid on percentage. Their best runs go to the Northeast it seemed but they seem to go everywhere.
