The worse part of drop&hook is things like picking up a reefer with little or no fuel and have the blinking light on the control panel. Things like busted air lines, bad tires, busted or out lights. The biggest thing that ever peeved me off was a trailer with missing legals.

Drop & Hook is one of the first little lies you learn in trucking.

These mega-crap companies all imply you are going cruise around the country dropping & hooking freight at your leisure; maxing out your hours by driving. Fat chance of that happening.

All these mega-crap companies claim like 90% drop & hook. Not only is that not true, after you hook some of the winners they have for trailers you will want your empty back. And while your at it, enjoy the hours of time each week wasted hunting for emptys and shuttling trailers around for no pay.

Most of the the mega-crap drop & hook companies have crap for trailers. Not just one, all of them are crap. And when they catch that crap trailer hooked to your truck they will have no problem blaming the damage on you; ruining your career with preventables.

Oh drop & hook sounds good, but rarely is the effort put in by anybody else to make it happen like it should. A full van or refer can be loaded and unloaded in 15-20mins. Seen it done several times. I have done it myself a few times with just a pallet jack let alone forklift. Some of these drop & hooks will have a driver going through so many customer demands that you would rather have loaded that trailer yourself without the help of a pallet jack

it isn't so bad. I drop/hook a minimum of 3 times a night. the most I've had in one night is 6. I get paid a flat fee for each one so I'm ok with it.

If you're up for doubles, line haul for an ltl can gross you about 65-80k a year and your home every weekend and in a hotel each night. Bad thing is its night shifts all the time. Any ltl offers it, saia, Old dominion, Estes, R & L, etc.

That's all they do is drop and hook and it's terminal to terminal.

I don't care what anyone says, got to admire the amount of time and effort that went into stacking those so tight.

Id agree if they were about 3" apart. The time and effort to stack them as tight as they are in the picture is minimal. Basically back until you hit the trailer next to you, straighten out and hit the fuel pedal until it's all the way in the spot.

I applied at the saia in Lexington ky and was hired as a local p&d driver. 22/HR to start. My foots now in the door for a line haul job when it opens. Just depends. If your experienced, no you don't have to work docks to get in. They only do that for trainees with no cdl

I do drop and hooks 2 times a week, but I'm usually the one that dropped the trailer there. Consistant runs with consistant backhauls are the best lol
