I need the best route from Dallas to Anchorage. Also, any other advise would be greatly appreciated.

You are aware you are fixing to drive into the teeth of winter. Ground transport from Fairbanks to Anchorage is NOT recommended for newbies because there are 4 mountain passes that will kill you.

If you have a passport Canada becomes an option. Otherwise it's the old wartime road to Alaska.

####, I have a dream to make a trip like that. Are you going by yourself or do you have another truck go with you in case something goes wrong?

I hope he has someone to go with him. And that plans are left with family with specific check in times. I want to go to AK myself someday. But not in winter. (Too bad too Antigun Pass is a bucket goal for me...)

    Fly there.

What is really awesome about Alaska is that even the PO's Eagle OVERNIGHT delivery to anywhere in AK from southern USA takes more than 24 hours. It's still on the plane at 600 mph near Prince Rupert at the 24 hour mark...

There is a third option. Cruise Boats to AK from Seattle. But the problem is you reserve in the summer because car spots are taken on them boats. You will also find that Cabin prices full fare to AK from Seattle is very pricey.

AK from Seattle is around 2300 miles (Fairbanks) it's 7 to 12 days by car if not more in bad weather. For the cost of gas you should just fly there and it will take you a day. Then rent a car. Passenger TRAIN service exists but it's more for a land cruise rather than transport.

I have too. AND I wont go to AK in winter, not here. And Im one of the few who crave winter mountain work. I know enough about AK to stay home and wait to spring.

Let me ask you this.. is there a PRESSING reason to go to AK now? What is the attraction?
