When a company's website states that in order to drive for them, you can't have more than 1 DUI in your lifetime, can they actually find out how many you've had in your lifetime? I was told they only pull it back 10 years. So which is true, do they only go back 10 years or do they go back through your entire lifetime when pulling your drivers license report?

the 10 years is a work history, your criminal record is different, personally if you have a habbit driving under the influence, you shouldnt be driving a truck

I don't have a habit of driving under the influence, is was something I did and paid for when I was younger and stupid. I don't do that anymore. Once was 16 years ago, once was 15 years ago. Busted both times, don't do it now.

    My question still stands.

If you've EVER been arrested/convicted for ANYTHING, EVER, it's recorded somewhere. The question is, who can access it or, better yet, wherever it is recorded, will it show up in a records check. Usually, traffic records only go back 10 years. Insurance companies seem to have some kind of magic powers when looking back. (over 10 yrs). I think their mentality is if you were a bad boy over 10 yrs ago and have been clean since, that's OK. JMO....

A lot of variables are involve,

what state or states are inolved.

    Pull your own MVR copy.

    Pull your own criminal record.

A few companies, will find things,

your mother never knew about you !!!

Going to vary from company to company. If a company wants to spend the time and money on researching a driver then they will find out. Some companies have their own private investigators whose job it is to just find out a drivers complete history. If you are working for a company like Western that have armored trucks then they are wanting to protect their freight and want to everything about their drivers. Also some companies require that their drivers be bonded, in this case they are going to find out everything you ever did! They don't want a driver to be responsible for millions of dollars of freight if 15 years ago they committed a robbery.

in my state nh. it comes off your driving record in ten years however in bordering ma. it doesn't come off,it stays. even if it comes off your driving record in 10 years if a company really wanted to get your whole lifes driving history they can pay to have it done through the proper authorities.most companies wouldn't but some might. call your local dmv and police station and ask,you might get better anwsers. i think it's an n.c.i.s. background check that shows everything and you can even get one done for yourself at police station for a fee with i.d.,i think.
