It seems like every other road has the sign w the picture of a truck with a circle and a cross through it. Does this apply to bobtailing as well?

That depends... Where I live..the only way to house is road with no truck signs...I can bobtail to the house and nothing is said..well anymore that is..at first the cops said OH you cant bring that truck here.. I told them I was allowed 1 mile off truck route for food fuel or rest.. lol.. they didnt know any better. and 10 years later.. they still drive by and wave..lol.. so best to check with LEO ..and then make sure you wont tear down power lines or any other things crossing the roads..

A lot of roads in Chicago, you can be ticketed for driving on them in a pickup truck. No trucks means no trucks. This includes ALL boulevards, Michigan Ave., Lake Shore Dr., and lots of others.

It is a pickup truck and they do not ticket them. -
-
The definition does not include a pickup truck.
My brother in law is an officer up there and he laughed at the thought. -

Very impressive..
A pickup truck is not a commercial truck.
By the way, I live in Illinois.
My town has the same rules and many people own pickup trucks and such.
