Driving after recovering from stroke

I would think its possible. Has he done some kind of rehab program? I can't remember what questions you're asked on the DOT physical, I'd think that and insurance would be the biggest hangups. How old is he? That linebacker for the New England Patriots had a stroke a few years back and recovered well enough to play pro football again, I'd think anything is possible.

 

When I was working in night dispatch for a small company I was with a few years back I had an owner/op call in and say he was feeling sluggish. I said he sounded drunk and he insisted he wasn't. He came in to the yard and when I went out to see him he #### near fell out of the truck. I ran up and saw he was having problems. Called the ambulance and they came and got him. Next day he was still in the hospital. He had a stroke, and then drove a few hundred miles to the yard!

Well, he recovered and a little over a year later was back in his truck working. You would never know he had a stroke other than he talked slower then he did before. I haven't seen or heard from him in a couple years, but last I knew he was still trucking.

 

On the DOT physical it does ask about stroke. You can drive after having one though. I went to the Dr. Last year and he diagnosed "mini strokes" at the initial exam. After tests and specialist found it was NOT mini strokes. Company I was working for told me I couldn't drive for a year. Found out later it was NOT a dot regulation, just a study that was in the DOt book. I could drive but the company said no.
