So I have an automatic restriction on my license. I’m wondering what’s the worst that can happen if you got pulled over driving a manual transmission with an automatic restriction?

Put out of service and a ticket for operating a vehicle you’re not certified to operate.
Bring another driver, that’s not restricted to move truck

It's already happened. One of our local ag haulers tried to sneak a couple through the north bound Cottonwood scale. They both got pulled in for inspection The fine wasn't too bad, less than a grand, but the hassle of having to find and transport new drivers to the scales was expensive and time wasting.
LOL...the guy that owns the trucks tried to claim that his ag exemption covered driver qualifications and his newly minted drivers, neither one of which spoke enough English to explain themselves, could drive a 10 speed even though the automatic restriction was on their license.. He says a lot of funny things like that. We like having him around, he keeps the heat off of the rest of us.

Basically if you get a ticket, it's the same as if you were driving without a CDL. How do I know? I got an OOS for operating with an eye glass restriction on my license. I took off my glasses and hung them around my neck to hand the officer my license, and he asked why I wasn't wearing my glasses while driving. I told him that I was, and he wrote me up. I was OOS, but it went on my record and no amount of whining on my part through the FMCSA web site could get it overturned. When I asked what I need to do to leave, he said "put your glasses back on". The a-hole knew I was wearing them, but decided to be a dick. The violation said "operating a CMV without a license".

So, if you're driving a CMV with a manual transmission and you have an automatic restriction, my guess is that you'll have the same violation as I did.

I’m sure it depends on state, but I’d take that to court in MA all day long, by rights you do not even need a cdl to drive a truck with a farm plate here

The trucks didn't have farm plates, just normal ones. The company is a common carrier who engages in agricultural hauling.

That is just insane that you went through that. That cop was a complete A-HOLE.

Sometimes a driver facing cam can be your friend. I'm an o/o and have 3 cams inside the cab. 2 of them are to prevent issues just like what you went through. "I pulled you over because I didn't see you wearing your seatbelt"..."Oh really?, let's go to the videotape."

Depends on the state. I know that in PA it's just a citation, in ND it's a misdemeanor

How come all these guys just don’t tell the cop that they have contacts in? They can’t make you remove them becuase even if you had them in, you need a clean environment. Second, a cop isn’t authorized to give eye exam. So again, what’s up with that
