Back when I was around a year in the industry and still jumping around alot they promised me a job, I asked them to make sure to look over EVERYTHING carefully, as I still had a couple tickets from when i was a kid in addition to 3-4 jobs over that first year and had been burned by JB after being promised a job. They told me everything had been run by a supervisor and I was ok. Got through first 2 days of orientation and while everyone else was interviewing operations and dispatch on day 3, I was apparently talking to a higher up, being asked about my in and out history, poor performance reviews from transam(I'd get to Excel Dodge City Ks, take 10 hours, get up on time for a pick up, be told call back in an hour for 12 hours and then be tired again by time load was ready 13-20 hrs after appointment and say no to driving when unsafe.) I was sent back to orientation then pulled out an hour later and sent packing with no explanations. I met a o/o on the road a year later who'd been in that orientation with me and said they were a joke, and had done things like fail an o/o with a pete for not knowing how to pop the hood on their volvo road test truck.

Went to orientation and as luck would have it they called me into the office. Seems they just got the dac or criminal report to them and I was disqualified. Never claimed to be an angel and I did put it on the online app and the hand written one there, yet it took them from Monday till Wednesday to see that I was not what they wanted after I had told that recruiter to check everything and then let me know. My copy of the dac shows they requested a copy on 4-21-10 and they claim they got it on 5-5-10. So if you have anything make sure they check it out fully before you go and waste your time. They are nice people though and paid my way there and back home along with putting me up in the Days Inn hotel which could have been better I think but was not a total dump though. Comp breakfast at the hotel, took us out for lunch and gave us tickets to eat at the hotel bar&grill at night which sucked or you could go down to the Hy-vee where you had lunch and eat there.
Trucks they have Volvo, Freightliner, and some Petes. Company drivers get the Freightliners and Volvo's and lease gets some what of a choice of the 3. I did not get into the lease part much but what I did hear a person would most defiantly want to read the fine print and I think I would do so before I left home. I think I heard .82 cents a mile which isn't to bad but will it make that truck payment and everything else?
Also company trucks are set at 62 and lease are about 68 you might get it turn up after a year of good service but she was not sure.
So back to looking and everyone have a nice day. I'ma out of here, bye bye

They closed the South Sioux City, NE terminal April 30. I also lost my great dispatcher as she wouldn't move to East Dubuque, IL.

I must say the past week has been one of my worse weeks yet. The dispatchers that are left have to handle about 150 drivers each. I can't get anyone to answer Peoplenet. Comchecks are taking 45min- 2hrs. Plus the last 3 trips I run hard only with being preplanned to go after the next load 4 hrs after I exhausted my 14 hrs.
I did it a couple days and told them, I can't back up my logs anymore. I need some sleep. I had like 5 hrs in 3 days with the stupid scheduling. 2900 miles in 4 days. Now I have a 350 mile run for the weekend. I guess I'm being punished because I made them reschedule a PU, but I made the original delivery time this morning.

They keep this crap up, I'll be looking for a job shortly.

Hirschbach use to be the company of choice, but after Grojean bought it, it's slowly being run into the ground. I'm mixed where they are headed. They paid for some to move and gave the others severance pay. They built a second floor on the East Dubuque offices. To me they made a bad change.

We'll see in the next week how it goes.

You mean all that stuff that Nancy said was BS as usual? They don't make you run hard just call her or Les and they will get those nasty dispatchers off your back. LoL Yeah I think we have all heard that one and if they do anything then it is like your 350 for the weekend for the rest of your time there. They seemed like they were a bit lost moving in over there.

Yep I am, lol! You get 3 hrs sleep the 1st night, 2 hrs sleep the next and 5 hrs the 3rd. You'll be putting your foot down too.

I run hard with the best of them. A man needs his sleep sometime. You can't work 20 hours everyday. My new dispatcher just knows how to put a trip in your face with no regards to a logbook. I probably ripped out 8 pages in them 4 days. :) I don't mind backing up, going forward is what getcha in trouble.

She hasn't talked with me or responded to any messages since I got her May 1.

The new Hirschbach are really testing my patience with their disorganization and being overworked to the point they are running in circles.
I stayed out 8 weeks the last time with 3 good weeks and 5 bad weeks. I had 3 days in the shop total and 5 days of more than a 24 hr wait for a load. All the new dispatcher would give me is 1 day layover pay even though I should of got 5 and at least 1 day breakdown pay.
I told her I wanted home by Saturday the 26th as I had a doctors appt at 2pm on the 28th. I got home on the 28th at 3pm and luckily the doctor squeezed me in yesterday. My old dispatcher would relay me or done what it took to get me home on time and she did. The new one thinks + or - 3 days is good enough.

What really bothers me is the 100% new payroll dept keeps screwing up and won't answer the phone or return calls. The dispatcher isn't much help either. 3 weeks ago I got no pay. 2 weeks ago I got paid for 2 weeks minus one trip. A whole $590 take home pay. :(
This week I get paid still minus that 1000 mile trip. You can't get a hold of anyone anymore. You present a problem and you get a snooty attitude if you can get a hold of anyone. It's easier to win a prize at a radio station call in.

I'm not sure if turnover is increasing, but what little info I get from other drivers is moral is real low right now.

I miss my old dispatcher. Things ain't the same anymore.
