I was at the TA truck stop with my dad all day yesterday. We pulled up in his truck to emts, firetrucks, and police at the gas pump. At first we thought a trucker pulled out with the gas pump, but then we asked a guy who watched it happen, and he said the lady fell and the trucker ran her leg over and that she might lose her leg. We also were told she was the wife to another trucker that was getting fuel right next to where it happened. It was scary to see all that blood and thinking about how she was going to survive. I hope she survives. I pray for her and her family.

The level of stupidity is getting to the point of insanity now. A lot of these dimwits are so focused on their cell phones, with the ear buds permanently screwed in, racing through there with no clue what's in front of them. I'm starting to think there needs to be an IQ test and a minimum standard for new CDLs, not just room temperature, as well as bringing back and ENFORCING the English language requirement.

That sounds good in theory, too bad it probably won't ever happen. Another senseless, preventable accident, thoughts and prayers for the woman and her family.

I worked for my state's DOT one summer (college co-op job). I did concrete testing at times. One time, doing a specific gravity test, I had to lay out a bit, so I could read the numbers. A mixer ran over my foot (it was sideways). Luckily, nothing was broken. But yeah, when people are around, try to keep an extra eye out.

It is possible that texting was involved...... But I have to admit that I too have tripped on those f*"kin& hill's and valleys directly in front of the fuel island..... We always stand up and look when we're in a heavily overpopulated area....
I will say if texting was involved why should anyone be surprised.... Hubby and I have been in restaurants where the people sitting together never speak to each other nor do they look up from thier phones during the meal......
    WTF is wrong with people????
Wait don't answer that not certain I really want to know.....

The first time my wife went with me. We stopped at a truck stop and first thing I told her DO NOT walk in front, side or back of any truck with a driver in the seat without seeing where he was looking and make sure he sees you first.

If he had a big hooded truck it might have been impossible to see her,
A lot of times when I fuel up and I walk to the other side I'll have a driver walking right next to my grill and we almost walk into each other.
And don't get me started on the Africans running (on foot) full blast right in front of the pumps.

I was backing in at a customer at night recently. 4way flashers and doing little pullups and backs. Went to pull up and out of nowhere an employee of the place was right there, nearly ran him over with my deer guard.

What I try to do is get the driver's attention and eye contact, raise my arm up so they know I'm walking across their path. Often times if they are already in motion I am not going to make them stop, I will stop and wave them through.

This is why I say take off in LO gear at the fuel pumps because you can super ease out and stop yourself quickly if someone appears out of nowhere.
