CDL DOMICILE REQUIREMENT - Section 383.23(a)(2) requires that your CDL be issued by your legal state of domicile, where you have your true, fixed and permanent home and principal residence and to which you have the intention of returning whenever you are absent. If you establish a new domicile in another state, you must apply to transfer your CDL within 30 days. This includes address changes within your state.

Required Documents to Apply for a CDL
proof of citizenship or lawful permanent resident status. That would mean green card, and I think that Tennessee will get their teat in a wringer over that if someone would challenge them in court.Oxbow Thanks this. -
"You'll need to provide proof of your new address in Tennessee. You can use documents like a birth certificate, social security card, or green card."
Go back to that DMV, bring ALL the documents asked for, and ask to speak to the manager. Confront the idiot who told you otherwise. If (as I am suspecting) that worker was motivated by prejudice and/or racism, ask to file an official complaint against this person.
Oh, BTW, you'd better get used to "casual southern racism" like this, because you'll be experiencing it a lot around there.....Sharon6969 Thanks this. -
You must not be here legally because In Tennessee if you’re here legal with permission to work (green card) you can get a Tennessee CDL.with proof of residence
