Like pulling periodic credit reports to manage financial history, driver reports(state and federal level) serve as a snapshot of our safety records, right?
How often should we, as drivers, pull our own (DAC and state level H6) reports, just so we can be aware of what's on them and take action if needed.
I know that sometimes, violations do not automatically age off making a call, at least to the nanny state that is California, to the state level mandatory actions unit necessary to ask that the record be reviewed and any eligible violations removed. I do mine every other year during my birth month.

i do not get anymore copies of my driving record, as i am not looking for another job, and retiring this year.
after i retire, i will be turning in my CDL, and be done with all the bullcrap of this industry. -
After a sufficient years gone by I am clean. With one exception, Covenant which maintains their own industry database that is a copy of DAC for the use of the other 14 fleets teamed up with them. They remember a botched orientation in 1996 with me. I am persona non grata with these people over the hearing issue. It's unfortunate.
If I was to get back into it which I am actually evaluating carefully it will be just like someone who has turned 21 and showed up at trucking school wanna drive a big rig. I would be treated like a newbie. However after 30 minutes with the road tester and a pile of company forms I should expect to be assigned a solo truck and bypass training.
However it will be under tier two without a medical card and strictly farm to elevator (Coop) here.
This industry has developed as Buddyd157 stated a whole den of rattlesnakes intent on hurting everyone one squeeze at a time. -
There are three reports you should check yearly, or before you seek a driving job. They are:
1. PSP Report ( Pre-Employment Screening Program) - This shows all DOT Inspections that you have had in the past three years. It only shows DOT inspections. If you got a ticket, but no inspection was done, it will not be on your PSP report. You can order one online.
2. DAC Report - This is not a Government required report. It is a privately operated site that many trucking companies prescribe to, that shows a variety of information in regards to your previous driving employment. You should review this annually for accuracy. If you find bad or inaccurate data, it is your responsibility to contact Hire Right ( The company that runs it) and inform them of the inaccuracy. They will inform you on what you need to do to clear off any bad data.
3. Your Driving Record /MVR - Provided by your state . Review for convictions, or suspensions. Make sure that your info is correct.
All trucking companies must go back ten years for all your past driving employment. That is a federal mandate.Midwest Trucker, Rideandrepair and x1Heavy Thank this. -
