I wanted to start this thread to see what different companies offer. I’m always looking to maximize my gains. So if anyone knows of a better company please share!
I currently work for AAA Interetate and make .60 per mile for non cdl trucks and .70 for cdl. They have a constant supply of trucks to be delivered and the usually are trucks like bucket f550, freight liner digger or bucket, Peter built crane, etc. 95% of the time the truck is brand new.
They pay for the fuel up front and give you more for fuel as needed on the trip. You pay for all the other expenses.
Driveaway Companies (what do you make?)

*Driveaway Companies*
Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -
Good idea. Probably want to explain to the masses how drive away companies work - you hitch up your own pickup truck to the back? Or use Uber to airports?

We pay all expenses airfare, hotels, fuel, etc. We also agree on a rate before the trip is completed. Little different then most companies. Drivers seem to like it. Less on the driver and more on dispatch.

Perfect service for guys here that buy a truck and need transportation options.Another Canadian driver and spindrift Thank this. -
Goodness Gracious. I'm at retirement age and thinking that I might look into driveaway companies. Just got off the phone with AAA Interstate. Driver assumes ALL transportation costs from home to the pickup location and back home AND all hotel costs while in the road. All of that deducted from your $0.70/mile rate for a CDL A.
I wouldn't be a bit surprised if @615trucker is a recruiter. Someone please tell me how some poor SOB could live off those crumbs. Plus, it's a 1099 job.
There definitely isn't any driver shortage.cuzzin it, rockeee, F4T6UY and 1 other person Thank this. -
I did it for a very short while about 12 years ago, and quickly realized that it didn’t pay as much as I was making as a bus driver. You only get paid for the miles driven in the vehicle that you’re moving. Then you’re on your own until dispatch assigns your next ride, which you have to get to on your own dime. You also have to pay fuel costs (they paid a fuel surcharge that in my experience never equaled the actual amount of fuel), and, unless you’re moving something with a sleeper, your hotel/motel rooms.
I actually spent several hundred dollars rigging up my car to use as a towed vehicle. Some drivers depended on a combination of rental cars, Greyhound, and taxicabs (I guess today that would include Uber).Lonesome and Another Canadian driver Thank this.
