I'll do a pro and cons list from my point of view.
Pros:
Only Two weeks long
Staff is relatively fun
They make sure they have atleast one company that'll hire you
Cons:
Its only two weeks, if you don't catch on, you're screwed
Only one recruiter came to the school
Doesn't give you your certificate until the loan is paid off
Overall, it's not that bad of a school. Bob comes off as an ### at first, but he's not that bad. If you want a crash course to trucking, I'd recommend them

Somebody could go to swift or roadmaster fot that much $$
-
Yeah, but their programs are too long for me. To my favor though, WIA paid the majority of my cost. For cheaper route, I'd go with Tenn Tech. Its like 1200, but its 6 weeks long. Swift is contracted basically, and contract pay is fairly low..
rob4567 Thanks this. -
How do I find out about WIA? Roadmaster is $5K THANKS

I am in my 4th week at TN Tech in Jackson. I paid out of pocket and am glad I did. The school has a reputation of turning out good drivers and opens more doors for you than a 2 week program. You have to show skills and competency in everything you do or you will be flunked out and quick. My first day driving I was turned loose on a 75 mile one way trip that consisted of interstate and narrow two lane hwy. I was prepared through the rigorous yard training and skills you learn in the class room. This being my 4th week, I have pulled a fully loaded trailer several times and been allowed to drive in congested city environments also. If you really want to learn and be a competent new driver, I recommend this school. If you are looking for the bare minimum and CDL stamp go looking for a 2 week school. It is 6 weeks long but the guys make it enjoyable.

I disagree with your statement. I drove through Jackson to Dyersburg, dropped and hooked trailers, learned proper trip planning and trip planning. Basically, learned how to operate a truck and trailer as well as the rest of aspects of the industry. No, we didn't drive loaded trailers. The longer the course doesn't dictate the job opportunities. The starter companies are just that, starter companies that hire students with at least 150 credit hours. Being a "competent driver" is entirely individual on if the person can learn from mistake or can understand the rules of the industry.
