Where would one go to get their drive shaft shortened? And how much would it cost about? This is for removing a 9 speed and putting in a 13 speed Eaton Fuller behind a series 60. Does anyone know why shaft sizes would be different, and what the shaft does beside hold the clutch on? Basically, if I install a 13 speed and the input shaft is bigger, does it matter? I'm assuming all it would mean is I would possibly need a different clutch?

Look in your local phone book under driveshafts. $150 ballpark. Input shaft size will be the same on both transmissions, two inch.

yep, there are DS shops in every state. They have good weldings equipment, big lathe (in Lugansk there are Russian DIP-400 and DIP600 monster lathe), they have big ballancing mashines.
And I'd say it is not too expencive. The first time I found this shop was when we got DS bent on old Volvo F10. This truck was not serial one, extended chassis for refrigirated container, so genue part was too expencive and DS guys made new DS welding together pices of KRAZ drive shaft. They did all so well that truck ran so smooth, much better the stock one.
Later I did tranny swap on old Ford Aerostar (yep, 5 st tranny for fast ride)))) and I was really satisfied. Seems to me custom drive shafts are better stock shafts! -
I got mine shortened for 65 or 70 last year

The input shafts should not be different.
