Man are you in for a rude awakening:biggrin_25523:. You might want to look around at the Truck Movers drivers and wonder why they all look like they are homeless and riding around 3 or 4 in one tow car?? I do some work for them, mostly for backhauls and their miles are always short and there is never nearly enough fuel in the trucks for the trip. You buy the extra fuel and they just give you the surcharge. You might gross $800 to $1100 but you will net half that.

I know Team Drive Away moves a lot of used junk. I saw on their website that if you want to make any money you have to decked sets and have to buy the saddles off them and how you would transport them is beyond me. If you have done deck sets you would know how heavy and greasy these things are. If you want to do decked sets go to Auto Truck or Active where you get paid for what you do and have benefits.

I do some work for Truck Movers, I am retired and just do it part-time but I don't see how you could possibly make a living at it unless you team up with someone and share expenses on a tow car etc. I also work for Bennett Drive-Away and there isn't that much difference in the pay but I thinK Bennett is a much more professional company and posts their loads online so you can choose where you want to go and where you can get backhauls from. Also Bennett's pay miles are much more accurate than Truck Movers.

I went from Owner Operator hauling cement to a driveaway driver almost two months.. I work for three driveaway companies and truckmovers being one of them, after the second week I only started using truckmovers for backhauls....they stiff me out of pay on two loads and you cant get anything out of them not even an extra penny, is pretty sad that even a truckmover terminal manager has nothing good to say about those people at corporate.....I am doing very well with one of the other companies, I get $1 a mile flat rate on used trucks and $1.05 for new trucks, and they give me money for hotel stays as an incentive so I dont have to show a receipt, and pay for my tolls..I only pay for the fuel I used and I have been very good keeping the truck between 58-61MPH and get between 9 and 11 MPG on every truck, new or used, I go out for 7-10 days at the time and come home for 3 to 5 days and I still manage to clear after ALL expenses over $2000 profit each time out.

i have stated this before but i need to make this very clear.

be a multi company driver if you are going to attempt this otherwise you will go broke.

tow behind is a better way to make money but the risk is high.

    partner up to share expenses.

if you are doing a normal haul and have nothing unusual come up, you will probably make some money.

if the job is unusual in ANY way. document it, and email the details to your dispatcher. then dont do a #### thing until he puts his OK in writing. otherwise they will not pay you what they promised... their word is ####.

i had one company withhold 1400. on one load after i saved them over 800. my only saving grace is i sent an email to my dispatcher and he read it. my mistake is that he did not put in writing (we had a verbal agreement) that he agreed to my terms of accepting the load. hence, they are ripping me off. and because i am contesting it up thru their chain of command, they are refusing to dispatch me on anything else. very unprofessional and vindictive. i am preparing to take them to court. already have the court paperwork.

i nearly quit them 6 months ago when they started a practice of stealing money from drivers. just when i was about to quit, all these long hauls came up. i could pass it up, the money was good. but finally, their unprofessional criminal tactics caught up with me. my bad. youve been warned.

wanna know who it is? read the pages, the bad guys have a reputation.

who's the other company? I pulled campers for a year and made good money until the slow season came along and loads came to a stand still. Just want to cover my backside and contract to 2 companies so I can keep moving along

I just left the Driveaway Industry. I worked for two companies, Roadrunner out of Missouri and Mamo out of Indiana.
All I will say is that I recommend Mamo, the were fair and treated you well and never had to worry about getting shorted.
No comment on the other company
