I have a bad habit of drifting in my lane while driving. What is the best way to cut that back or stop. I have to fix this quick or ill be out of a job.

Drive to point as far out as you can see ... people who drift tend to be looking right over the nose of the truck... don't worry the truck will go where you point it ... that or put the cell phone down.

You're drifting bad enough that you might get fired? Hold the wheel with two hands...control the throttle, don't cruise

Truck goes where you look. Like already said, i bet your constantly looking in your side views. So much so your "drivingfrom your mirrors" unless you are changing lanes just glance dont stare at your posistion relitive to the line. And look 5 car lenghts down the road.....

A lot of times drifting is caused by looking at a point too close to the truck while driving. An easy fix is to look at a point which is further down the road. This action will tend to keep you centered in your lane and will also give you a better sense of your surroundings. Give it a try, I know it has helped several people I have helped with the same problem.

Just out of curiosity, when driving next to another truck (to pass for example) will the airflow between the two trucks pull you closer together? I've noticed that i tend to drift a little when passing other trucks on the road. Then i steer away a little and it seems like im pushed farther than i intended

Posture could have something to do with it.Don't slouch when driving. Also start focusing on whats ahead rather then directly towards the ground and in front of your trk.

Hi patty, I had a teacher in high school that said that. "Sit up straight", she'd say. I always lined myself up with the tire tracks in the road. Unless you drive a cabover, I'd put my butt in the left tire track, and you will get weird buffeting when passing a truck, and when you get up to the cab, it will actually blow you away from the truck you are passing towards the left shoulder. Again, cabovers were terrible for that. Modern wind deflectors have taken care of that, somewhat.

That's what I do is sit up straight when driving and look far ahead. No matter how windy or how light the load is I never have problems maintaining my lane. But if someone was to train me like when I was hauling asphalt, nervousness got the best of me,lol.[QUOTE="semi" retired;4253067]Hi patty, I had a teacher in high school that said that. Hi patty, I never liked anyone with me either, except my daughter, she enjoyed it. Once I had the "lead driver" (excuse me) came with me, all the drivers, actually, to see if we could improve our delivery times. ( you know where that idea came from) I had a Louisville Ford with a 238 Detroit that I knew he wasn't used to. He said to me, "Do you really have to wind this thing out like that?" I looked at him and said, "Obviously, you haven't driven anything with a Detroit before". He didn't say anything the rest of the trip.:biggrin_2559:
